University Village 3

In 1996, Flagship Theatres acquired a sleepy triplex across the street from the University of Southern California. The property was rundown and poorly operated. Flagship immediately set out to make these theatres a destination for both students and neighborhood families. The turnaround has been no less than remarkable.

The company invested immediately in technical upgrades and a major facelift. Some elbow grease, some marketing savvy, and aggressive pricing has made Flagship’s University Village 3 Theatres a landmark in the USC neighborhood.

Customers always see the major studio releases for less than they would pay at Sony/Magic Johnson, AMC and the rest. Concession prices are always lower than competitors as well.

Innovative programming includes “Cool Weekend Late Shows” where college students pack theatres regularly for movies like A Clockwork Orange, Swingers, Best In Show, Scarface, and The Exorcist. Flagship is also deeply committed to the community working with LA County Children’s Services to see to it that hundreds of foster families go to the movies regularly.

As a commitment to many more successful years at University Village, Flagship has undertaken major renovations again in 2003. Customers now enjoy all new seating and custom carpet. The company has also installed a new computer ticketing system which allows for credit card transactions, and a new internet website has been created.

In short, Flagship believes that every neighborhood can and will support its own moviehouse. The company is committed to the USC neighborhood and will strive to maintain a clean, up-to-date, well-run triplex with the best movies at the best prices.
